WHAT IS SINGLE FIGURE GOLFER (SFG) AND WHO CAN JOIN?
SFG is a community for all amateur golfers with a handicap of 9 or below.

WHAT IS THE SFG TOUR?

The SFG Tour sees male golfers compete alongside pros and fellow amateurs in an exhilarating series of 2 day events run throughout the UK in conjunction with the Jamega Mens Professional golf circuit.  Now, thanks to our unique partnership,  you can enter and play in Jamega Tour events, earn valuable SFG points in the order of merit and win some fantastic prizes.

CAN WOMEN PLAY ON THE SFG TOUR?

Unfortunately the Jamega Tour is a Mens Tour at the moment and as such we cannot accept lady golfers.

WHAT CAN I WIN ON THE SFG TOUR?

There are prizes for each Order of Merit winner (There are 4 OOM's in 2017). Prizes can be seen within the prize pool page.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO PLAY IN EACH SFG TOUR EVENT?

The entry fee for each SFG Tour is £125 for adults and £100 for juniors (under 18's). This covers two rounds of competitive golf and a practice day.

There are also discounts if you'd like to play in more than one event by purchasing an SFG Tour Card (season pass) or an OOM Ticket (between 4 and 5 events)

HOW ARE SFG TOUR EVENTS OPERATED?

SFG Tour events are run by the Jamega Golf Tour. All Tour events abide by the R&A rules of golf, especially pertaining to Amateur Status.

ARE SFG EVENTS NETT OR GROSS?

NEW for 2017 - All scoring for the SFG Tour events are based on gross scores with points awarded in line with the pros for the purposes of the Order of Merit. Day 1 and Day 2 scores will be combined. Local rules will apply at the discretion of the Tournament Director. Your personal "Hard Copy" of the local rules, should be carried at all times.

WHEN ARE THE SFG TOURNAMENTS HELD?

Normally Sunday is a practice day with competitive golf occurring on a Monday and Tuesday.

CAN I PLAY IN AS MANY TOURNAMENTS AS I LIKE?

You can compete in any number of tournaments. Entries for these events are usually on a first come, first served basis. Please visit the SFG Tour Schedule for entry forms.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR SFG TOUR EVENTS?

Use the links on the SFG Tour Schedule. Register and pay using Paypal. Then complete a simple form and we will be in touch. Please submit your name and mobile number and event you wish to enter.

The draw will be made Saturday afternoon and will be published on the Jamega website and individual Tee-Times will be sent via text.

It is the player's responsibility to inform us of any change to their mobile number or Email.

AM I REQUIRED TO HAVE AN OFFICIAL HANDICAP?

No you do not need an active current CONGU handicap BUT you should have a handicap below 10 in order to be competitve.

IS THERE A MEMBERSHIP CHARGE?

There is no requirement for Amateurs to pay a membership charge.

HOW DO TEE TIMES WORK?

Tee Time preference for the first round, for those travelling together will be given whenever possible, also a late start time may be requested. All requests cease at 6:00pm on the Friday preceding each event. To enable entrants to travel up on the day, all Tee-Times will be after 11:00am

WHAT IS THE CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES?

Entries will be taken up to 12:00 noon on the Friday prior to each event. Entries are limited, entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

HOW DO I REGISTER ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?

Players must register at the Tournament Office at least 15 minutes before their Tee-Time. Players failing to register may be withdrawn from the tournament. Appeals subject to Jamega's discretion.

A player is fully registered when SFG has received all personal details and fees. The "no pay, no play" policy remains if force for 2017.

WHAT ARE THE PLAYER'S RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • To abide by the Rules and etiquette of Golf.
  • To ensure speed of play.
  • To report to the Starter and be ready to play at least 10 minutes before his allotted tee time.
  • If the player is late and not ready to play when called he may be disqualified.
  • Note: The official, on-course clocks, are deemed to be the official time.
  • Treat the golf course and its members with respect at all times, repair pitch marks and repair bunkers on leaving.
  • Abuse of golf course property or Jamega equipment will incur a £100 fine.
  • To ensure that Caddies, Fore-Caddies, friends and family when walking ahead of the playing group do not go out of sight of the players.

WHAT ARE THE PLAYERS AND CADDIES ATTIRE?

  • The proper on course attire is required at all times.
  • Hats & waterproofs must be removed before entering the clubhouse.
  • Jamega reserves the right to require all players and caddies to remove or cover-up any logo deemed to be inappropriate.
  • The wearing of Jeans, Shorts or Collarless vests is not permitted.
  • Shorts may be worn for practice rounds only and must be tailored.
  • Soft spikes are preferred by all host courses and therefore are mandatory for all events.
  • Players must ensure that their caddies observe the dress code.
  • Caddies must wear "trainer" type footwear only, not spikes. (Caddies may wear tailored shorts.)

WHAT IS THE RULING ON MOBILE PHONES?

  • The use of mobile phones is prohibited on the Golf Course during Tournament play, except, as laid down in the local rules.
  • Failure to abide by this code will result in disqualification.
  • We would also respectfully ask players not to use their mobile telephones in the clubhouse, on the practice tee or during practice rounds.

SLOW PLAY

It is a requirement that all groups keep pace with the preceding group, NOT just to keep ahead of the group behind!

Unless there is a mitigating circumstance i.e. a ruling is required (in which case the group behind should be called through). Then the following will apply:

  • One bad time: Warning from official.
  • Two bad times: One stroke penalty.
  • Three bad times: Two-stroke penalty.
  • Four bad times: Disqualification.

Timings will be as follows:

  • Timing will commence when a group is out of position i.e. more than one hole behind the group ahead or failing to adhere to the recommended timings, which are;
  • Par 3's 12 minutes, Par 4's 14 minutes & Par 5's 17 minutes.
  • The player first to play an approach shot (which includes a par 3 tee shot, chip or putt) has 50 seconds in which to execute his shot.
  • The second or third players have 40 seconds in which to execute their shots.
  • Timing will start when the player is deemed to be ready to play.
  • If these timings are exceeded then the player will be given a bad time.
  • Play "ready golf" be prepared to play before it's your turn, walk between shots at a good pace.

WHAT IS THE APPEALS PROCEDURE?

  • Any appeal regarding penalties must be referred to the Tournament Director immediately after the round is completed and before the card is signed.
  • Tournament closure. The tournament is deemed to have closed 30 minutes after the last group have left the registration/scoring area.
  • In all cases the Tournament Directors decision is final.
  • Grievances
  • If you have any grievance whatsoever, please discuss it with the Directors first.
  • GPS or Laser Assistance Approved, with the exception of Lasers with slope fitted, which are not permitted even if turned off.

WHAT IS THE RULING ON BUGGIES AND TROLLEYS?

Buggies are not allowed, however players may use powered or pull trolleys.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR SUSPENSION OF PLAY

In the event of play being suspended due to thunderstorm / electrical activity, signalled by 1 long blast on the klaxon, immediately mark your ball and seek the nearest area of shelter.
Resumption of play will be signalled by 2 long blasts on the klaxon.
If play has to be suspended for any other reason, signalled by 2 short blasts on the klaxon then players may choose either:

  • To mark the ball, or finish the hole currently in play.
  • All players must then report directly to the Tournament Registration Office.
  • Not until the players have been given permission, may play resume.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE COURSE IS UNFIT FOR PLAY?

  • In the event of a Tournament being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions the Tour will try to reschedule or find an alternative venue. This however cannot be guaranteed.
  • We will do all in our power to replace any cancelled event.
  • 18 holes must be completed by all competitors in order for an event to have been staged.

WHAT HAPPENS REGARDING MEDIA AND TOUR SPONSORS?

  • Please respect the Tour and Sponsors when dealing with the media.
  • It is a Tournament entry requirement that that all players will be available for any media duties, including interviews, sponsorship presentations, press photographs and all television requirements.
