Forest Pines

The SFG team were recently invited to play another up and coming top100 challenger - Forest Pines.

As we were already in Lincolnshire playing one of the greatest inland courses - Woodhall Spa (hosting the 2008 SFG launch event) we thought why not.

Until 1996 the fenland county has little to write home about, however along came the Forest Pines Golf & Country Club, near Scunthorpe, opening its 27 tees for play. Known as the 'Wentworth of the North', there is a hint of Woburn and a touch of Wentworth at Forest Pines and with 27 holes it's a popular and pleasantly informal corporate and society venue.

Each of the three loops of nine, called Forest, Pines and Beeches starts and ends at the clubhouse, twisting and turning through the pines along the way. The best and most challenging combination comprises of the Forest and Pines layout which measures 6,859 yards from the tips. The shorter Beeches loop, with its three one-shot holes, makes for an ideal warm up ahead of the sterner championship challenge.

A big thanks to Graham the golf director for showing us around the 27 holes on a fabulous sunny morning.

Forest Pines

Got to say we were impressed when we played this. An exceptional morning in little or no wind certainly made this a superb start to the day.

27 Holes in the woods!

Didn't even realise there was such a course in Lincolnshire, I was expecting a boring parkland course but was very surprised with the quality of the course. You will need to drive straight though!

Forest Pines.

Yes what a great place to play and stay, enjoyed all 3 nines, everything about the course was quality, wish I lived near Scunthorpe, I would certainly join.
