WHAT IS SINGLEFIGUREGOLFER (SFG) AND WHO CAN JOIN?

Membership to SFG is open to all amateur golfers with a handicap of 9 or below.

WHAT IS THE SFG CHALLENGE TOUR?

The SFG Challenge Tour is a tour comprising existing open club competitions.The SFG Challenge Tour uses existing club open events throughout the UK. The tour provides a route for qualifcation for the following finals:-

  • SFG Champions Final (NEW for 2012) - The winner (nett) from every SFG Challenge Tour event progresses to the SFG Champions Final where a winner will be crowned SFG of the year. There is no additional cost to enter - you just enter the existing club event as you would do normally, pay the entry fee and the best nett score progresses to the final. This is a one-off event where the winners from the events nationally come together and compete to be SFG Player of the year. The sponsors Srixon, Cleveland, Bushnell, Motocaddy, Loudmouth and others will be providing the main prizes. Venue - TBA shortly (Jan 2012)
  • SFG Challenge Cup Final - A match between a team of SingleFigureGolfers and Ryder Cup stars. Venue and qualification to be annouced (Subject to sponsor confirmation for 2012)

WHAT DOES IT COST TO PLAY IN EACH TOURNAMENT?

The entry fee for each Tour event varies depending on tournament location, venue, etc. and is normally set by the hosting club. Please check your the current SFG Tour schedule.

HOW ARE TOUR EVENTS OPERATED?

The Tour is operated by golf clubs who run them as they normally would for an Open event. All Tour events abide by the R&A rules of golf, especially pertaining to Amateur Status.

ARE EVENTS NET OR GROSS?

All scoring for the SFG events is based on nett scores with a full handicap allowance.

WHEN ARE THE TOURNAMENTS HELD?

Tour events are typically held during the weekend but some are midweek, either on a Saturday or Sunday (or both).

CAN I PLAY IN AS MANY TOURNAMENTS AS I LIKE?

You can compete in any number of tournaments. Entries for these events are usually on a first come, first served basis, however some clubs may ballot by handicap limit or postcode. Please visit the SFG Tour Schedule for entry forms and contact the hosting club for local rules regarding balloting.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR TOURNAMENTS?

Use the links on the SFG Tour Schedule page then complete the entry form and post back along with a cheque to the tournament organiser.

AM I REQUIRED TO HAVE AN OFFICIAL HANDICAP?

Yes as the SFG Tour uses existing club open competitions you will need an active current CONGU handicap.
